Electromechanical locks are actuating devices. The control of their state (open/closed) is performed by applying or removing the supply voltage — this is possible both with the help of a conventional switch and by means of a controller of the access control system, video intercom, keypad, etc.

Application of electromechanical locks

The main field of application of electromechanical locks is generally accepted to be the restriction of access to premises: they can be installed on entrance doors, as well as gates and wickets. However, it is worth considering that these devices can be equated with electrically controlled locking mechanisms, so their purpose covers such solutions as the central lock of a car, doors of passenger elevator, doors of the electric high-voltage cabinets and even the Coca-Cola refrigerator standing on the street.
